This deeply inspiring and entertaining tale takes you into the magical and imaginative world of Kiki, a young girl, who talks to the tress and uses sticks and leaves as her dolls- and the thrilling world of Harlem, a pink dragon, who loves doing loop-de-loops in the sky!
Their worlds weave in- and then out of each other as Harlem starts to doubt that he actually did meet a REAL people girl.
Take part in their journey as Kiki learns to help her friend Harlem by believing in herself and looking within for answers- so they can both SOAR together again!
This story came through me as a mother who wanted to help her own two children believe in themselves, overcome doubts by looking within for answers and SOAR! I didn’t realize at that time that it was my children who were actually showing me the way. I discovered in the process of sharing and illustrating this story that it was meant for me too. The illustrations come from the heart and were created using tissue paper collage, light and photography.
I’ve enjoyed reading this story for audiences of all ages- whether you are 2 or 102- may Kiki and Harlem’s journey spark something in you!
“Kiki and the Pink Dragon” app will work on iPad, iPhone (3GS or later), and iPod touch (3rd gen or later) and requires iOS 4.3 or higher. The app running on the iPad feels more like a normal book with the entire text for a page shown on each illustration at once. The text on iPhone and iPod touch has been broken down so that it is easier to read and does not overwhelm the illustrations.
There are 3 reading modes:
1. “Read to me” in which the narration goes along with the text.
2. “I’ll read to myself” in which text is displayed without narration.
3. “Autoplay” in which the narration goes along with the text and pages flip automatically.
The narration in “Read to me” and “Autoplay” brings the story to life with the rich emotions expressed. "I’ll read to myself" allows your device to be used like a normal book. "Autoplay” can be used as if someone is reading to you which allows you to either look at the illustrations or go within and imagine the story on your own. Where applicable:
- Use arrow icons (▼ and ▲) to move from line to line.
- Use the curled arrow (↻) to repeat the narration.
- Use the book icon (
